What we believe

When we talk about faith, we are talking about the relationship God's Holy Spirit creates with us. It's a relationship where God's promise of steadfast love and mercy in Jesus opens us to a life of bold trust in God and joyful, generous service to everyone we know and meet in daily life.

At the same time faith does not close our minds to the world and our hearts to others. We continue to listen to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. We listen to the witness of others and we watch for the ways God is active in the world around us. Faith opens a place for engaging others in conversation, for seeking the truth, for asking questions and speaking love in word and deed.

Love takes

Love is not something we just talk about.
It requires
taking action. At Peace, we demonstrate our love for our neighbors
through many compassion projects. These
acts of love are an overflow of God's grace
at work within us.

Jesus came to save the world, not judge it. As Christ's followers, we also share that value. The undemanding grace of God welcomes people in so that they might experience Christ as their friend, Savior and Lord.

We are better

When God's people gather as a community of faith, we are stronger as individuals and collectively we can do more to bring hope to this world. The Spirit gathers us and em-powers us for the sake of our neighbors and all creation.

Jan Brainard
Jan Brainard

Jan meticulously tracks every penny that goes in and out of Peace Lutheran, which is no small job! Her career with the telephone company prepared her for this challenging position. Jan and her husband, Mike, moved up from Texas to Port Ludlow to escape the heat and she spends many hours volunteering on behalf of animals who are being rescued in our community. Jan and Mike live with one of their rescue animals, Max — one very lucky dog!

Jean Kaldahl
Jean Kaldahl

Jean teaches a course to Adult and Youth called, Living Catechism. She is a master teacher and has a contagious spirit that transfers easily to her students. The Catechism gives answers to questions about our faith. She makes the Scriptures come to life and applies these teachings to our daily lives. Jean and her late husband, Rev. Charles Kaldahl, were involved in teaching on healing and praying for the sick in Lutheran congregations. In her spare time, Jean is very active in Daughters of Norway, don't ya' know.
